Welcome and Welcome Back!!!!!

2017-2018 Students,

Welcome Back upperclassmen!!  For our new freshman, welcome to the LA-801st AFJROTC and Haughton High School!!!  I am glad you decided to be part of the "Bucs in Blue."

We will have another exciting year with many of the usual activities our cadets look forward to, such as:

  • Aerospace Science, Leadership, Drill, and PT (Physical Training),
  • Cadet Hangout Nights and Curriculum-In-Action Trips,
  • The Home Coming Parade, Blood Drives, and Community Services projects,
  • Drill Team (with and w/o rifles), Color Guard (you know, with our Nation's stars and stripes and State flag), Marksmanship Team (that means air rifle targets), Special Ops (that means survival, first aid and PT), PT Team (that means PT, more PT and even some martial arts), Cyber Defense Team (secure those computer and networks from viruses and hackers), Model Aviation and Rocket Club, Orienteering, Academic Bowl Team, and Sound Team
  • ASI/II Intramural Drill Competition and of course our Military Ball (formal military meal, awards ceremony and prom-like dance)
  • I am sure I forgot many more...oh yeah, summer Cadet Leadership Course (week long in June), Cyber Camp (week ling here in Bossier in June) and Marksmanship Camp (week long in Alabama in July)...

and many new things such as:

  • March-on our color guard and cadet wing at an HHS football game for the National Anthem.
  • Drill Team is considering an Exhibition Drill Team (if we get enough interest).
  • Space Team competing in StellarXplorers (last year we tested the waters and in our first year we missed going to Nationals in Colorado Springs by millimeters).
  • Army JROTC Adventure Challenge for Special back.
  • PT Team plans for participate in the Barksdale MudRun in April 2018.
  • Marksmanship Team wants to beat last year's firsts of one member going to Air Force Nationals and 3 going to 4H Nationals by send a who team to both.
  • Model Aviation and Rocketry Club wants to actually learn to use our helo-drones and a possible attendance at a rocket competition.
  • Did I mention a end of the school year parade...

Please let me or Chief Brown now if you have any ideas on who to make a great program even better...I guess that would be awesome, unbelievable, get the point.
