Anyone that has signed up for Art AP must attend AP meeting today to receive summer assignments.  We will meet in the art room right after school. Meeting will last about 30 minutes.  

 

3rd & 4th block finals will be today.

1st & 2nd block finals will be on Thursday, May 24th. Students, you will be dismissed and allowed to check-out following your 2nd block final test with a parent note turned in to your 2nd block teacher on that day. You must have a ride pick you up by 11:15 AM if you are checking out with a note.

Any students that do not check-out will follow your remaining schedule for the day on Thursday. Buses will run at the normal time.

 

All boys interested in playing soccer next year must see Coach Smith before Thursday!

 

ALL volleyball players need to come by Coach Ginn's classroom and pick up your summer workout schedule.

Attn Juniors: Graduate Sales will be here today during lunch shifts if you need to make a final payment for your class ring.   If you have your own ring, take it to Mrs Bramlett in the office today. Juniors that are participating in ring ding: We will have a brief practice today during 4th block.  Let your 4th block teacher know you are here and come down to the boys' gym. You do not need to bring your backpack - you will be returning to class.

 

Drill team will meet today from 2:30 until 3:00 in the large classroom. Color guard will meet tomorrow the same place and time.

Congratulations to Madison Waldron.  Her art piece won the Congressional Art Contest and she will accompany Congressman Mike Johnson to Washington DC this summer for a ceremony where all national winners will have their artwork displayed in the US Capitol.

 

 For their outstanding accomplishments in earning 1st place in the NRA's 3-Position Sporter Air Rifle Air Force Championships, the marksmanship team has won $250.00 for team equipment.  In addition, since Steven Barfield won 1st place overall, he has won a check for $250.00. Congratulations one last time to the entire team of seniors Steven Barfield, Aaron Jones and Micheal Roe and junior Haylee Ritter!

The Marksmanship Team has done it again...another National Championship Competition is in their sights.   This time congratulations to Haylee Ritter! She has placed among the top fifteen shooters in the Nation during a series of American Legion competitions against 850 competitors over the past few months.  As a result, she has earned an invitation to compete in the 28th Annual American Legion National Air Rifle Championships, to be held at the USA Shooting Facility at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, in July. Congratulations and good luck representing Haughton HS, the State of Louisiana and Air Force JROTC.

Congratulations to the track team for being the state runner up in the 4x200 meter relay and 3rd in the 4x100 relay.  The teams members included Kason Green, Lavontae Gipson, Kynon Hayes, Clyde English and Emile Cola.

 

Congratulations to Sidney Lain for placing 3rd in the i3 Art Expo short film contest and for winning the People’s Choice Award for best film.

4th block testers:  Release time from 3rd block is 12:25 for EOC ENGLISH 1 and 2 students ONLY!  This is the fourth lunch bell.  Report directly to your assigned testing areas for your 4th block EOC.

Friday, May 4th is the LAST CALL for yearbook orders.  Order online for $65 or see Mrs. St. Andre in Lab 3 during NON class time.

 

Juniors who are participating in Ring Ding:  If you have not submitted pictures for the slide show, it must be done ASAP.  This includes individual pictures: baby picture and current pictures and group pictures.  We have received several group photos, but some people have not sent in any. If you want your group of friends represented in the slide show, you have to send in pictures.

You are invited to attend  the film screening of Sidney Lain's Short Film Documentary  at the I3 Art Expo today and Friday at 6 pm at the Bossier Civic Center. Her film is 1 of 3 Finalists. Those attending the screening will  be allowed to cast a vote for the People's Choice Award so come support Sidney and help her win.

If you want your group of friends represented in the slide show, you have to send in pictures.

Girls basketball tryouts will be held on Monday May 14th in the girls gym from 3:00-4:30. All those planning to tryout need to come by the girls gym before Friday May 11th and put their name on the list for tryouts. Please wear appropriate clothing and tennis shoes. See Coach Pesnell if you have questions.

 

Varsity/JV Volleyball tryouts for next season will be Wednesday May 16th from 2:45 - 4:45 in the Boys Gym.   Coach Ginn will have a sign up sheet in his classroom in H-08 for those interested in trying out.

 

Tryouts for the 2018-2019 HHS Lady Bucs soccer team will be held on Sunday, May 27th from 3-5 PM here at the high school. ALL girls intending to try out MUST submit a current LHSAA physical that is signed by a doctor. It can be turned in early or the day of tryouts. No one tries out without a physical.

Good luck to our varsity baseball team as they travel to Lafayette today to take on Lafayette High School in the first round of the playoffs.  Game time is 4 p.m. All varsity baseball players need to be released at 8:30 to report to the bus.

It’s time for our annual Mr. Debonair pageant.  The pageant will be Friday, April 27 at 6 p.m. in the auditorium.  The pageant is open to all guys in all grades and you can get an application from Mrs. Shaw or any cheerleader. Applications need to be returned to Mrs. Shaw by Tuesday, April 24.

 

Administration recommends that any student attending prom take a picture of your school ID and/or your driver’s license with your phone and save it to present at the dance. Have your date do the same. This will save time and confusion at the dance.

 

The sophomore basketball team is in search for more players, especially girls.  You may not have a referral or a failing grade. Sign up with Mrs. Pease before the end of school today!

Congrats to our Marksmanship Team.  They competed in the NRA JROTC Marksmanship Postal Championships this year, for the first time and attained 1st place against all Air Force Team.  Individually, Steven Barfield earned 1st place, Haylee Ritter 2nd place, Micheal Roe 4th place, and Aaron Jones 5th place. In addition, in the Freshman competition, Garrett Morrison earned 3rd place and Xander Wolf 5th place.  Congrats again and good luck tomorrow at the 4H State Championships.

 

Congratulations to the following boys track team members who placed at the district meet.  2nd place finishers were Greg Phil in the Long Jump, Bradley Moore in the 110 and 300 hurdles, Zander Morris in the javelin,  Matthew White in the Shot Put, and Kynan Hayes in the 200. 1st place finishers were the 4x100 and 4x200 relay team consisting of Greg Phil, Kason Green, Lavontae Gipson and Kynan Hayes.  Clyde English in the 400 meter dash,and Kynan Hayes in the 100. Special congratulations to Kynan Hayes for being named the MVP of the district.

It’s time for our annual Mr. Debonair pageant.  The pageant will be Friday, April 27 at 6 p.m. in the auditorium.  The pageant is open to all guys in all grades and you can get an application from Mrs. Shaw or any cheerleader. Applications need to be returned to Mrs. Shaw by Tuesday, April 24.

 

Prom will be on Saturday, April 21st  Dance contracts are now late and must be turned in to Mr. Haynie with the $10 late fee. Today is the deadline to purchase prom tickets during all lunch shifts.  Only Juniors or Seniors may purchase tickets.

Please present the debt card(s) showing that attendees are clear of all debts, their ID, and cash.

Ticket prices are $30 per ticket. $60 per couple.  Administration recommends that any student attending prom take a picture of your school ID and/or your drivers license with your phone and save it to present at the dance.
