Seniors:  It’s time to submit your application to be considered for Outstanding Senior.  A 3 paragraph essay, not a resume’, explaining the reason you should be considered for this honor and which includes your GPA, ACT score, extracurricular, athletic, and co curricular activities should be submitted to Mrs. St. Andre no later than February 14.  If you have questions, please see Mrs. St. Andre.  Approximately 20 students will be selected for this honor.

 

Congratulations to Courtney Jackson for winning the Lady of the Locket pageant Saturday.  1st runner up was Savannah O’Neal, 2nd runner up was Sarah Beth Sewell, 3rd runner up was Alana Lewis, and 4th runner up was Madelynn Lowrie.  Miss Congeniality was Cailey Davis, Best Dress Winner was Courtney Jackson, Most Photogenic was Shelby Roy, and the People’s Choice Winner was Haylee Bridewell.

 

The Sadie Hawkins Dance is Saturday, February 11 from 8-11 p.m. in the boys gym.  Cowen Studios will be here to take professional pictures Saturday night, so bring extra money if you’re interested in purchasing pics.  You must have a photo ID to enter the dance Saturday.   

Tickets are on sale during all 4 lunch shifts in the library.  Tickets are $10 each.  You must be wearing your ID to purchase tickets and you should have submitted a dance contract for yourself and your date.

Guest dance contracts are past due and need to be turned in to Mr. Haynie along with the $10 late fee.

 

The D.I. Improv team will meet Monday's and Wednesday's til 4 in Mrs. Raley's room.

 

Make plans to wear jeans tomorrow to support our Destination Imagination teams.  The cost is $5 and all the money will go to help our teams should they advance to the Global Finals in May.

 

Color guard will practice today in the large JROTC classroom from 2:30-4:40 p.m.

 

Marksmanship Team will meet today.  Good Luck to Aaron Jones as he departs for  Marksmanship Nationals tomorrow.  

 

Special Ops and PT will meet tomorrow until 3:30PM.

JROTC attended the Eddie Jones Orienteering Competition this past Saturday at which time the following orienteers placed in accordance with their course and age category:

 

Jasmine Weaver, Johnathan Houghes, and Holden Morgan placed 1st on the white course; Norman Pritchard placed 2nd on the white course; Logan Billingsley, Hannah Morris, and Chelsea Jowers placed 1st on the yellow course; Brandon Moll, Liana Tessada and Angel Brock placed 2nd on the yellow course; Ivan Takada placed 1st on the brown course; Logan Hatfield placed 2nd on the brown course; and Micheal Roe placed 1st on the red course (this is the hardest). Congratulations Bucs in Blue!

 

Drill team will practice today from 2:30 until 4:30 in the large JROTC classroom. Color guard will practice tomorrow the same place and time.

 

Space Team will meet briefly in the JROTC small classroom today after school.

Voting for Miss Photogenic has been extended to today! The voting board will be set up in the Buc Den during lunch shifts!

Congratulations to our HHS Winter Guard.  They competed and placed 2nd overall in competition at NSU last Saturday. This is a huge accomplishment because this is the first year our HHS band has had a Winter Guard.

 

Congratulations to the boys’ soccer team for beating Northwood 4-1 last night in their final game of the season.  Alex Guiterrez, Alex Enlund, and Kyler Burns all scored goals. The season leader in goals this year was Christian Milton with 10 goals.
