Encore Drama members:  Today is the deadline to pay your deposit for April Dallas trip.

All Beta members that did the Renesting Service Project over the Christmas break must turn their form in to Mrs. Stallcup by the end of the day today.

 

Today’s National Space Competition has been rescheduled.  Teachers, please do not mark space team members as tardy this morning since they did not know about the rescheduling.

 

Bucs, are you still looking for a Random Act of Kindness to participate in to start off the new year?? Please wear your school approved blue jeans with a uniform shirt next Wednesday, Jan. 17 for only $5... All of the money collected with go to the RAK Club.

 

Any girl who is interested in being a baseball Diamond Doll needs to  sign up outside Mrs. Lemoine’s door in the S building.  Deadline to sign up is January 26.

 

Any girls interested in participating in this year's Lady of the Locket pageant can pick up an application from Mrs. St. Andre in Lab 3 during NON class time only.  This year's pageant will be held on February 3rd at 6pm at Airline High School.  

 

Color guard will practice on Tuesday from 2:30 until 4:00 in the large JROTC classroom. Drill team will practice on Thursday the same place and time.

 

Hey students:  It’s time for our annual Sadie Hawkins dance!  The date has been confirmed and it will be Saturday, February 17.  More details about the theme and dance tickets will be available closer to the day of the dance.

 

Students:  If you didn’t use your pink hall pass from last semester,  turn it in to your first block teacher  today so you will be eligible for a reward.

 

Senior Clyde English has been selected to represent “Team Louisiana” in the University Of Arkansas high school indoor classic this weekend. He will be competing in the 4x800 relay & 4x400 relay.  Good luck Clyde!

After securing an 8-1 victory over Huntington on Tuesday Night the Boy's Soccer Team will play again tonight in a District Game vs. Benton at 7:45 at Tinsley Field.

 

Congratulations to the freshman boys basketball team.  They beat Minden 54-42 yesterday.  Double digit scorers were Pat Jones with 16, Malaki Burks with 12, Cade Ebarb with 12, and Jake St. Andre with 10.  The JV boys basketball team also beat Minden 27-25.  High point scorer in that game was Killian Malena with 12.  Our varsity girls and boys basketball teams will play Evangel here tomorrow night beginning at 6:00 p.m.

HHS is offering 3 sections of ACT prep this semester.  Only certain students may qualify for the course, but all students who are enrolled in the course will be given a voucher to take the June 2018 ACT test for free.  Students (10th and 11th grade ONLY) who are on  University/college bound pathway for graduation and would like to take an ACT prep course this semester during 2nd, 3rd or 4th block, should email their counselor today.  Interested students will be considered for the course.  Do not hesitate because space is limited!  This will serve as an elective in place of the current course you have in your schedule during that block.  10th graders email Mrs. Thrash and 11th graders email Mrs. Schufft.

The Lady Bucs soccer team defeated the Huntington Lady Raiders 8-0 Tuesday night at Tinsley. Goals were scored by Meghan Schaffer (2), Madeline Milton (2), Sarah Silny, Chloe Currence, Shelby Watson, and Madison Waldron.

Great defensive plays by keeper Miah Vanmeter and back Sarah Page Robertson.

Congratulations to Haylee Bridewell, Lauren Brooks, and Madison Waldron for being named to the 2017-2018 Louisiana All-Academic Girls Soccer team!

Congratulations to the HHS Space Team, they have qualified for the National Quarterfinals of the StellarXplorers competition.  They will get a look at the next level of the competition this Friday in the E-14 computer lab.

 

Also, congratulations to the HHS Marksmanship Team, they earned 3rd place in the qualification round of the Louisiana State Championship Civilian Marksmanship Program Competition.   They will have the opportunity to compete for the State Championship on Saturday, January 27 at Minden High School.

 

Marksmanship team will practice today after school in the Buc Den.

 

Cheerleaders:  Come by Mrs. Shaw’s room today before you leave school today to pick up a copy of the January and February calendar.

 

Congratulations to the Lady Bucs freshman and JV basketball teams.  The freshmen defeated Benton last night and the JV beat Parkway.  Also, congratulations to the boys JV basketball team.  They beat Parkway 44-41 and Killian Malena led the Bucs with 11 points.  Both our Lady Bucs and boys basketball teams will play Parkway tonight in district games at Parkway beginning at 6:00 p.m.
