Testing Information (ACT, State, etc.)

ACT

ACT now highly encourages students to sign up online (must use a parent's credit card).  Need help with that?  Green online sign-up packets are available in the office or the library or sign-up online @ www.actstudent.org.  Also at that website is a complete listing of tests available for the school year.  The ACT is offered on the HHS campus on certain test dates.  Hint: register as a user on their official website BEFORE you test regardless of whether you sign up for a test by mail or online because your score will be available to you faster.  Regular mail-in packets are also available for those who are paying with a check or money order.

Our HHS school code is 191-170.

Trying for TOPS (Taylor Opportunity Program for Students)? Include code 1595 ("La. TOPS") as one of your four choices in Section O when registering.  It's your job to send a copy of your scores to the state.  Get more information RE the Taylor Opportunity Program for Students @ www.osfa.state.la.us

Every junior in Louisiana will take the ACT in the spring.  Bucs will test at HHS.  No charge to juniors for this particular test.

Every student at HHS can use the ACTropolis testing preparation site (use the QuickLink on the HHS website). Forgot your password? LoopMail our Graduation Coach, Mrs. Holly George.

•ACT now requires all potential testers to submit a photo electronically.  Each tester's admission ticket must be printed with the student's photo and the tester must have a photo ID with him/her when arriving to take the test.

•This does NOT affect the statewide administration of the ACT for all juniors; on the assigned test day, all juniors at HHS will take the ACT and will not have to have an admission ticket.

PSAT / NMSQT

Attention, freshmen, sophomores, and juniors!  Each year, millions of students worldwide take the PSAT/NMSQT to enter scholarship competitions, prepare for the SAT, and gain access to valuable college and career planning tools.  The test measures critical reading, mathematics, and writing skills.  It stands for "Preliminary SAT / National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test."  Juniors can also qualify as National Merit Scholarship finalists.

The PSAT is offered at HHS one day during the fall.  Students who are interested in taking the test will pay Mrs. Schufft in the office.  The test costs in the range of  $13.

Free resources, publications, and tutorials are available at http://www.collegeboard.com/psatdownloads to help educators, students and families get the most from the PSAT/NMSQT.

State Testing Information

All freshmen, sophomores, and juniors will test in the Spring; students will be given more information prior to testing.

All Louisiana students are eligible to practice for these tests by logging onto http://www.louisianapass.org

Students can contact the HHS Library to get the original Louisiana PASS password information.  During the initial use, students will create their own login information and the website will assign a unique password to each user.   At the high school level, several practice tests are available for English, math, science, and social studies.

Through LDOE's Testing Resource Center, which is posted on the agency's website, www.louisianaschools.net, teachers, families and students may access multiple resources.

Another online practice test site for standardized tests (state testing and end-of-course testing) is Louisiana EAGLE http://www.louisianaeagle.org

For EAGLE, the students will receive a login name, password, and complete details from one of their core teachers (ex. math, English, etc.)

Questions about standardized testing at HHS?  Contact our HHS test coordinator, Mrs. Kelli Schufft (kelli.schufft@bossierschools.org) or 549-5460.
