AP Students today  is the final day to pay your $15 AP testing fee. Mrs. Stallcup will be placing the AP test order over Spring Break. These fees may be paid in H1 during non-class times.

Any senior who is interested in trying out for cheer, dance, or mascot at BPCC needs to see Mrs. Shaw for information about clinics and tryouts.

Drill team will practice on Mondays from 2:30 until 3:30 in the large JROTC classroom. Color guard will practice on Tuesdays at the same place and time.

Juniors.. are you interested in Louisiana politics, leadership and hands-on learning- Do you have a 3.5 GPA or better? Louisiana Boys and Girls State might be for you. See Mrs. Thrash during non class time for more details.  

Prom Tickets will be sold Wednesday, March 18 through Tuesday March 24 in the SBuilding during lunch shifts only. Have all dance contracts turned in by Monday March 16. Cost is $30 per person. Only juniors and seniors can purchase tickets and all attendees must be clear of all debts.

Congratulations to the Boys Track Team.  They placed 2nd at the Benton Relays. 3rd Place finishers were Tommy Cook in the Pole Vault, Jacob Stephens in the 100 meter Dash and Jaleel Mouton in the 400..  Placing 2nd were Trey White in the 800, the 4X800 team consisting of DJ Gilbert, Cameron Crenshaw, Trey White and Jordan Stephenson. They also broke the school record in this event.  The 4x200 team consisting of Keyshawn Davis, Jaleel Mouton, BJ Feaster and Jacob Stephens. First place finishers were Jacob Stephens in the Long Jump and the 4x100 consisting of Keyshawn Davis, BJ Feaster, John Ecot and Jacob Stephens.  Jacob Stephens was also named the MVP of the track meet.

ACT Prefill Make-ups will be held today at 8:00 AM in the Buc Den and again at 1:00 PM in room S210. Teachers, please check the lists of students that were emailed to you and send those students at the scheduled time.

This past Saturday, our Winter Guard team attended their third competition in Texas. They have advanced in class each time they have competed and this was the most difficult class yet. They competed against 7 Texas teams and earned 4th place. On March 28th, they return to Texas for the Championship competition. Congratulations to our Winter Guard team!

Varsity baseball team beat Sterlington yesterday by a score of 8-4 to improve our season record to 4-1.  Jacob Hernandez threw a complete game and was the winning pitcher. 

Peyton Stovall went 2 for 3 with a 2-run homerun and 2 RBI’s. 

Matthew Whitten had a double and an RBI. 

CJ McWilliams, Carson Gilmore, and Logan Wilkerson also had hits. 

Next varsity action is today at Northwood at 5:00.

Students, please check with your first block teacher to see where you are scheduled to be during our statewide ACT test. Students will need to report to those locations during 1st block next Tuesday, March 3rd, for our Mock ACT/Prefill day. All juniors are scheduled to take the ACT. Almost all seniors are scheduled to take either ACT or WorkKeys. Sophomores that signed-up are also scheduled to take the ACT. All students should know where they need to report that day.

Science tutoring will be available after school today in Room S115 from 2:30 - 3:30. Check the schedules posted around campus and online for other tutoring opportunities. Don't forget, you must arrive on time, remain in dress code, sign-in and out, and have your own transportation.

Congrats to our HHS JROTC. This weekend, they competed in the Leesville Drill Meet and earned 1st place in Marksmanship. Team members Xander Smith, Nathan Senter, Emily Ritter, Brock Houston and Peyton Birchfield had a team personal best and beat the State Champions. In addition, Peyton was the top marksman. Also, Nathan Senter, Peyton Birchfield and Emily Ritter earned 2nd place on the Obstacle course, with Emily repeating as top female competitor. Way to go Bucs in Blue.

The Library's Passport Around the World has been rescheduled to Thursday, March 5th. Come experience France with chocolate croissants and activities. Don't forget your passport!

Highstepper tryout applications are now available in Mrs. Weinreber’s room S218 & are due back by Tuesday March 3rd.

Congratulations to Justin Sandlin for winning the Library's Candy Guess Fundraiser. He will receive the jar of Starbursts and a $10 gift card to Chick Fil A. Total amount of starbursts was 134. Justin had the closest guess of 133.

The baseball team improved to 3-1 with 3 victories this weekend in the Battle of the Borders Tournament.  We defeated Atlanta TX 17-7, Springhill, TX 5-1, and Elysian Fields, TX 14-4. Varsity will play again tomorrow vs Sterlington at HHS.  JV plays tonight at home and the freshmen play tonight at Parkway.

We need your suggestions and fundraising skills! Come to the meeting & bring parents Monday night @ 6pm @ Buc Stop! The more events you attend the more credits you receive!!

Haughton High School’s Air Force JROTC Marksmanship Team soared last week. They qualified for the Air Force JROTC National Championships in Anniston, Alabama as the 16th seed and finished 6th this weekend! A bonus for Haughton High was team commander, Xander Smith, earning a spot in a very intense Top 8 Finals shootout on Saturday afternoon. He won the finals with a 92.6 out of 100 in the standing position and earned 6th place overall. Congrats to the whole Varsity Marksmanship Team of: Xander Smith, Brock Houston, Emily Ritter, Nathan Senter and Peyton Birchfield.

Congratulations and and BIG thank you goes out to our top 3 first block classes with the highest participation. 3rd place=Mrs. Maris, 2nd place=Ms. Marks, and 1st place=Mrs. St.Andre...Donuts and Juice will be delivered to your room soon. We also want to recognize Logen Stone, Cheyenne Allen, Coleman Stafford and Mrs. St.Andre for being randomly drawn from our stack of completed Challenge checklists. Goodies are being delivered to you this morning. Thank you to everyone who participated and please remember, you don't need a challenge to be kind...you can sprinkle kindness like confetti everyday!

Our Lady Bucs soccer team beat Franklin Parish in the first round of the playoffs 2-1 in overtime. Our goal was scored by Madeline Milton in the second half.  Lowery Lain and Jordan Fick converted penalty kicks. The hero of the game was keeper Miah Vanmeter who saved the final shot by Franklin Parish in penalty kicks to seal the win. #15 Haughton travels to #2 Neville for a regional playoff game Tuesday. Game time is 5:30 pm.

Juniors: Ring Ding Participation packets are being accepted today through Friday, Feb 7. Please bring your completed packet and $25 fee to Mrs. Harlan during lunch shifts only.

The National Scholarship with Barbizon will be in the plaza on Friday, February 7th, during all lunch shifts. Any students wishing to receive information can meet with a representative at that time.  

The #15 Haughton Lady Bucs soccer team will host the #18 Franklin Parish Lady Patriots in a first round playoff game Friday at 5:30 pm at Tinsley Fields. This is the first ever opening round home game in Lady Bucs history. Come see your Lady Bucs move on to the second round!!!!

This past Saturday, your Big Red Band Winter Guard team competed in their first competition in a Texas Winter Guard Circuit. They scored higher than the other teams in their class and brought home the 1st Place Trophy! Congratulations to our Winter Guard Team!

The Haughton Lady Bucs soccer team defeated Minden last Friday by the score of 5-3. Goals were scored by Payton Elwell, Lowrey Lain, and Madeline Milton. The win allowed the Lady Bucs to finish 3rd in Division 2 district 1.

Last night, The Lady Bucs closed the season with a 2-0 loss to Airline. Today the team will learn its opponent for the first round of the playoffs. Stay tuned and Go Bucs!

JROTC Orienteers attended the Eddie Jones Orienteering Meet this past Saturday at which time the following orienteers placed in accordance with their age and course categories: Samantha Hoxie, Alexandria Armstrong and Destiny Boothe placed 1st on the white course; Xander Smith and Alaina Atnip placed 2nd on the white course; Tristan Pelfrey and Leslee Smith placed 2nd on the yellow course; Joe Busby placed 3rd on the yellow course; James Garber placed 3rd on the orange course; Norman Pritchard placed 1st on the red course which is the toughest, and Koehn Farrell placed 2nd on the red course. Congratulations Bucs in Blue.

Tutoring will be available after school in Math, English, Science, and Social Studies beginning Monday, February 3rd. Math will meet on Wednesdays and Thursdays; English will meet on Thursdays; Science will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays, and Social studies will meet on Tuesdays. Schedules will be posted around campus and online. After school sessions are from 2:30 - 3:30 and you must arrive on time, remain in dress code, sign-in and out, and have your own transportation.

See Ms. Meredith if you would like to submit an entry to the i3 Art Expo's Inspired Author's Contest. Categories are fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. All entries are limited to 500 words or less. Deadline for submission is February 4th.

All Science Club members have a mandatory meeting today from 2:30-3:15 p.m. in Ms. Pease’s room.

Each semester, the PBIS committee draws one boy and one girl from each grade that has had perfect attendance or received A's and B's for the semester. Tutoring will be available after school in Math, English, Science, and Social Studies beginning Monday, February 3rd. Math will meet on Wednesdays and Thursdays; English will meet on Thursdays; Science will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays, and Social studies will meet on Tuesdays. Schedules will be posted around campus and online. After school sessions are from 2:30 - 3:30 and you must arrive on time, remain in dress code, sign-in and out, and have your own transportation.

Congratulations to Coach Brotherton who was chosen as the Louisiana Sportsline 5A Coach of the Year.  This is a well earned honor for the person that leads our football program with positivity and integrity on a daily basis.  He never wants any of the credit, but he certainly deserves it. Congrats Coach B! We are proud of you!

Haughton (#15 in Div II) defeated Woodlawn 12-0 Tuesday night at Tinsley to improve its record to 9-8-2 (3-2-0).Goals were scored by Amelia Hayden, Alyssa Taylor (2), Payton Elwell (2), Madycen Johnson (3), Madeline Milton (3), and Lowrey Lain. An assist was recorded by Madeline Milton.Haughton concludes district play next Tuesday at Minden, then concludes the regular season with a rematch with Airline at Tinsley on Monday, Feb. 3.

Congratulations to the HHS Varsity Marksmanship Team. They are one of only 28 teams nation-wide selected to attend Air Force JROTC Nationals in Alabama in February. This is only the second time a full HHS Marksmanship team has qualified to compete at this national level. Good luck to Xander Wolf, Brock Houston, Emily Ritter, Peyton Birchfield and Nathan Senter.    

Congratulations are in order for our HHS Space Team too. Last week, they competed in the 1nd round of the StellarXplorers National Competition and tied with two other team for  a perfect score and 1st place. They are now in 12th place out of the 200+ teams that competed nationwide. Great job Bucs in Blue: Norman Pritchard, Dillon Johnston, Koehn Farrell, Jacob Schomburg, Helen Forgey and James Garber!

The boys soccer team defeated Northwood last night 4-3.  Ian Ebarb scored 3 goals, Sage Barker scored 1, and Hunter Clement played a great game at goalie with numerous stops.  They will play again Thursday night at Tinsley against Bossier.

Jacob Orienteering Meet this past Saturday at which time the following orienteers placed in accordance with their age and gender category: Tristan Pelfrey, Leslee Smith, James Garber, and Norman Pritchard placed 1st; Tobey Ferguson placed 2nd; and, Alaina Atnip and Koehn Farrell placed 3rd. The Boy's Soccer Team improved to 2-1 last night with a 5-1 victory over Red River.  Ian Ebarb scored 4 goals and Conner Clement scored 1.

The boys basketball team won last night against North Desoto by a score of 65-45. Leading scorers for the Bucs were Trell Parker and Malachi Burks with 17 points apiece. The Bucs are now 2-1 and will play North Desoto again tonight at 6:30 at home in the Jack Clayton Invitational. We need a big cheering section so come out and support the Bucs!

The Haughton Lady Bucs JV soccer team routed Captain Shreve last night by the score of 8-0. Goals by Lowery Lain, Rylei Folds (2), Elizabeth Gaspard (2), Dawn Warner, & Jordan Pieri (2) .

Both the varsity and JV take on Natchitoches Central tonight at 6 and 7:45 respectively. Come out and support your Bucs!

The Boy's Soccer team defeated Huntington in a District Game yesterday 3-1.  Goals were scored by John Van, Conner Clement, and Ian Ebarb. The Boy's will play again tonight at Tinsley Vs Red River at 6:00.  Come out and support the Bucs!

The Lady Bucs basketball team defeated North Webster 59-7 last night to open their season.  Taralyn Sweeney scored 14 points and Tiara Clark scored 10. The Bucs opened up the season with a 81-56 win over Magnolia Charter. High point scorers Kentrel Parker 29pts Ken Lang 17 pts & Malachi Burks 16pts WAY TO GO LADY BUCS AND BUCS. 

The Lady Bucs soccer team tied Airline last night 2-2. Madeline Milton scored two goals and Miah Vanmeter collected three saves. The JV tied 0-0. Catch the Lady Bucs next in the Cranberry Classic vs. Bossier at Bossier High this Thursday at 8:15.

Winter guard is a flag twirling sport that is performed indoors, usually in a gymnasium or an indoor arena. If you are interested in being a part of this amazing team, please see Mrs. Bumpass in H5 for more information and to sign up to attend the first informational meeting/rehearsal which is scheduled for this afternoon at 3:00 in the Band Room.

The cross country team competed in the 1-5A Regional meet yesterday. Both teams qualified for state by placing in the top 8. The Lady Bucs placed 6th led by Lowrey Lain 13th & Jadyn Hodge 24th. The Bucs placed 8th led by Trey Smith 21st place. 

Although the Lady Bucs volleyball team lost last night in the playoffs to McKinley High School, several of our Lady Bucs had outstanding stats.  Arielle Emmanuel had 9 kills, Jaycie Keith had 3 kills and 2 blocks, and Mia McWilliams had 12 assists and 2 kills, and Taralyn Sweeney had 2 kills and a block.

This weekend the Marksmanship Team traveled to Zachary, Louisiana to compete against some of the best teams in Louisiana. The team earned 2nd place in the standing position and 3rd place in the prone and kneeling positions for a 2nd place overall. Individually, team member Emily Ritter earned 1st place in the standing position and 2nd place overall. Way to go Bucs.

Calling all poetry writers! The Norton Art Gallery will be hosting the Poetry Out Loud Regional Competition in February for high school students in grades 9-12. The top 3 winners of the competition will advance to the state competition. Prizes vary at each competition level. Contact a Librarian for rules, regulations and additional information.

The Haughton High School Band is actively seeking members for it’s award winning Winter-Guard. Winter guard is a flag twirling sport that is performed indoors, usually in a gymnasium or an indoor arena. If you are interested in being a part of this amazing team, please see Mrs. Bumpass in H5 to sign up to attend the first informational meeting and rehearsal which is scheduled for Tuesday, November 12th at 3:00 in the Band Room.

This weekend HHS sent 2 archers to the HMS archery tournament. They both placed in the top 3!! Daniel Robinson snagged 1st place with a 288 and Aiden Jones shot a 262. We will expect to see great things when the whole team starts their season!

The second round of the HHS Gauntlet Food Drive challenge was completed at Friday's football game. The Big Red Band surpassed the Football team by collecting over 700 cans donations. Over 1800 cans have been collected for the ACTION food bank so far. Awesome job for our community by all. Now-we await who the Band will throw the gauntlet to next!

This past Saturday, your Big Red Band competed in the Pride of Panther Marching Contest at Sterlington High School. They earned 1's (a 1 is the best rating) in all three categories: Band, Percussion and Color Guard. They earned the Best In Class rating in all three categories and also earned the title of First Runner Up overall. Thank you to those who came to support our Big Red Band!

This past Saturday, our Big Red Band competed in the Parkway Marching Contest. They had a great performance and earned 1's in all categories and placed 2nd overall! Their next competition will be at the Sterlington Marching Contest in West Monroe this Saturday.

JROTC attended its first drill competition of the year at Natchitoches Central High School this past Saturday at which time the marksmanship team place 2nd and color guard place 3rd. Gavin Lerch placed 1st in the mile run PT competition with 6 minutes and 18 seconds. Congratulations Bucs in Blue!

Way2Go Wednesday will be held Wednesday, October 23rd. Prizes include $5 Chick Fil A Gift Cards, an HHS Hoodie, and various t-shirts, and your chance to win a personal pan pizza. Place those Buc Bucks in the Way2Go Wednesday box during non-class times any day of the week. Drawing will take place Wednesday, October 23rd at 1 p.m.

 Thanks to all who donated in the penny drive! We raised over $600 for the orphanage in Kenya! BIG thank you goes to the KHHS broadcasting team for raising $145!!!!!

 The 2nd round of the HHS Food Drive Gauntlet Challenge began at our last home game pep rally. The football team challenged the Big Red Band to try and beat their 453 can total by the November 2nd home game. Please donate canned items in the name of the band and help out people in need at the same time. Collection boxes are in the cafeteria and band building or bring cans to tonight's game. Will the Big Red Band topple the football team as the leader of the gauntlet? Keep bringing those cans in to help our community.

Juniors and Seniors:  Today is the deadline to sign up for the ASVAB test.  Complete the Google form sent to you in your email or see Mrs. Stallcup in H1.

The Haughton Volleyball Program will host a "Student Appreciation Night" on October 14th. A catered student tailgate will be held before the matches vs. Parkway. Tailgate begins at 3:30, JV match begins at 4:30, and Varsity match begins at 5:30. Students who attend will also be entered into a drawing for Sonic gift cards, and the winners will be announced before the Varsity match. 

The deadline for the Special Needs Christmas Shirt Orders is Oct 7th.  The link to order is on the HHS homepage.

Everyone is welcome to join us in representing Haughton High School on this walk to raise awareness and help in stopping suicide. 

The First round of the HHS Gauntlet Food Drive challenge was completed at last weeks football game. The Football team won with 432 cans to JROTCs 427 for a total of 859. Awesome job for our community by all. Now-we await who the Football team will throw the gauntlet to next! Find out at the pep rally.  

Get that money in for the penny drive during first block today!  We have only raised about $200 and the money is going to a great cause--the Compel Orphanage in Kenya.  Donate today and your class could win a pizza party!!! Teachers, whether or not your class donated any money or not, please return the plastic containers to Mrs. Duncan in the H building before first block is over today!

You will receive information, with instructions, to take home to your parents during your first block class. You will also find a scholarship opportunity inside the booklet. All you have to do is complete your FAFSA and enter the drawing for $1000 scholarship to any college or technical school. HHS had a scholarship winner last year!

Today is the last day of the Gauntlet Food Drive Challenge between the football team and JROTC. JROTC barely leads with 301 cans versus the football team’s 293 cans. Please donate canned food items in the name of either JROTC or the Football Team. All donations will go to our local ACTION foodbank. You can still purchase canned food items at the table near the stadium entrance during the game to put JROTC or the football team over the top. Who will be challenged next?

There are a number of students with outstanding parking tickets that have not been paid. If you are one of these students, you need to see Officer Grooms or Officer Almond to pay your ticket prior to Homecoming Activities. Starting Monday morning, if you do not have a Parking Permit on your mirror, you will not be allowed to park on campus until you purchase a Parking Pass.

There is only 3 days left in HHS Food Drive Gauntlet challenge between the football team and JROTC. JROTC still leads, but barely with 290 cans to 271 football cans. Keep bringing those cans in to help our community.

On Wednesday, HHS students and teachers donated 115 units of blood with the potential to save 345 lives in the Shreveport-Bossier area. That is our best blood drive in 5 ½ years. You can still donate on your own by visiting the local Bossier or Shreveport LiveShare centers. Just tell them to credit Haughton High School. Great job Bucs! 

The HHS Food Drive Gauntlet between the football team and JROTC continues until next Friday. JROTC still leads 268 cans to 187 football cans. Please donate a canned item to your favorite group and help out people in need at the same time. Collection boxes will be outside the JROTC building and in the cafeteria. Keep bringing those cans in to help our community and declare a winner.   

The Lady Bucs volleyball team beat West Ouachita in 3 sets last night,Adrienne Vickers had 10 kills. Arielle Emanuel had 5 kills and 5 aces.Mia McWilliams had 12 assists and 10 aces.

If you signed up, but haven’t turned in your permission slip, PLEASE do so ASAP!

The Bucs Cross Country teams competed in the Parkway High Border Dash this Saturday. The boys and girls both placed 2nd overall. Great way to start the season. Coach Smith is very proud.

Congratulations to Aiden Weinreber!   Aiden was selected by the HHS faculty as the Daughters of the American Revolution recipient. Aiden will compete against area recipients for the regional title.

Today is our first pep rally and one of the biggest games of the season against East Ascension.  Everything you need to know for the pep rally is featured on KHHS today. Get ready to cheer at the pep rally because the class who is the loudest and showing the most spirit will win the spirit flag and will get to run it at the game tonight.  Also, thanks to the generosity of our HHS students and community, we raised over $5000 for the American Heart Association.

 JROTC beat the veterans of Northwestern Louisiana 9 to 3 in a bean bag baseball game this past Saturday. Congratulations to Chloe Detrey, Jhen-Li Bangi, Madison Burson, Elijah Dudley, Troy Sanderlin, Evana Lane, Ainsley Rachal, Trinity Whitmore, Brock Nyswaner, Leslee Smith, Ethan Sutliff, Alyssa Strozier, Dillon Johnston, Koehn Farrell, Norman Pritchard, Jeremiah Hadwin, Jacob McDonald, Brisa Hall and Wesley Brands. Way to go Bucs ini Blue.

The Bucs competed in the Choudrant Cross Country Meet this weekend. Lady Bucs finished 2nd overall led by junior Jadyn Hodge placing 3rd , Freshman Madecyn Johnson 6th and Freshman Lowrey Lain 8th. The Boys finished 3rd overall led by sophomore Trey Smith. Great way to start the season. 

The gauntlet has been thrown and the challenge is on!  JROTC challenged the football team to a canned food drive.  So far, JROTC is in the lead. Donate a canned item to your favorite group and help out people in need at the same time.  Collection boxes will be outside the JROTC building room and in the cafeteria. Cans can be donated at the next two home football games too.  This challenge runs until the CE Byrd game, Sept 27th. Keep a look out, and the cans coming in, the winner will pick the next group to challenge.  Your group could be next!

Collin Rains threw three touchdowns to La’trell Cooper and Dexter Smith, while Dexter and Tyler Rhodes each rushed for a score

Volleyball has a scrimmage at home vs. Ruston tonight. Freshmen start at 4:30, JV starts at 5:30 and varsity starts at 6:30! Students can be admitted with their school ID and $1.00. 

Tomorrow is the first KHHS broadcast of the semester.  Immediately after morning announcements, you will be able to watch the newscast in your first block class.  If you have any story ideas, please email Mrs. Shaw or put your ideas in the folder outside the KHHS broadcasting studio which is located upstairs in H-8.

Tonight is Haughton’s Community Spirit Night at the stadium beginning at 6 p.m.  Students get in free and admission is $5 for adults. There will be food trucks, other vendors, the HHS spirit store will be open, and all the teams and spirit groups from the high school, middle school, and elementary schools will be recognized as well.  Come out and support your Buccaneers tonight at Community Spirit Night.

Any senior girl who is interested in the Bossier City Commission for Women Mentor program needs to see Mrs. Waldron today.   Applications were sent through the Senior Remind app. 

Any senior who has not signed up for Remind will miss out on scholarship opportunities and other important announcements.   Directions on how to access the senior Remind app will be sent to your school email today.
