Dear High School Parents, We are pleased to announce plans for our district ACT Testing Day on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. Although the ACT is a state-mandated assessment for juniors, Bossier Schools expands testing opportunities to include sophomores and select seniors as part of our commitment to providing students with valuable college and career readiness opportunities. On this day: All sophomores, juniors, and select seniors will take the ACT at their assigned schools during the school day. Non-testers (students not scheduled to take the ACT) will participate in a virtual learning day from home on March 25th. This includes all 9th graders and any other students who aren’t assigned to take the ACT test that day. This plan ensures that students can focus fully on the test in a quiet, structured environment while also accommodating the learning needs of other students. Why is Taking the ACT Important for Students? The ACT is a nationally recognized college admissions test that evaluates skills in English, math, reading, and science. It is an important step for students planning to pursue higher education. Taking the ACT multiple times has been shown to improve scores, as students gain familiarity with the test format and have additional opportunities to refine their skills. Higher ACT scores can lead to: Increased college admissions opportunities. Scholarships and financial aid eligibility. More accurate placement in college courses. Benefits of a District ACT Testing Day Convenience: Students will take the ACT without needing to arrange for transportation or to test on the weekend. Cost Savings: The district covers the testing fees for all eligible students. Focused Environment: ACT testing during the school day reduces distractions and logistical challenges. All school staff are involved in ACT testing and all students attending school that day are taking the ACT. Resources to Help Students Prepare We encourage students to take advantage of the following resources to prepare for the ACT: ACT Official Website: Free practice tests, question-of-the-day resources, and test-taking tips at www.act.org. Online Tools: Platforms such as Khan Academy and ACT Academy offer personalized practice to build skills. Study Sessions: Encourage your student to set aside dedicated time for preparation. What Parents Can Do Ensure your student gets plenty of rest the night before and eats a healthy breakfast on test day. Remind them to bring approved materials, such as their school ID, a calculator, and pencils. Encourage a positive mindset—confidence can make a big difference!

Plain Dealing High School Dress-Up Days. On Tuesday, December 17, 2024, students are invited to participate in Christmas Shirt and Sweater Day! Everyone is encouraged to wear their favorite festive shirts or sweaters to celebrate the holiday spirit. However, all attire must be school-appropriate and follow these guidelines: uniform bottoms are required, and blue jeans are not allowed. Let’s spread holiday cheer! On Wednesday, December 18, 2024, we will celebrate Polar Express Day with Pajama Day! To create a magical and enjoyable experience, all students may wear pajamas while adhering to the following guidelines. Allowed attire includes two-piece pajama sets (tops and bottoms), long pajama pants with modest tops, or flannel or holiday-themed pajamas. One-piece pajamas are permitted but must have a school uniform underneath. Closed-toe slippers with hard soles, sneakers, or other school-appropriate footwear are required. Robes are optional, and festive holiday accessories, such as Santa or elf hats, are encouraged. Certain items are not allowed to ensure appropriateness and safety. Inappropriate pajamas, such as those with offensive language or graphics, sheer or revealing pajamas, spaghetti straps, tank tops, or low-cut tops, as well as lingerie, boxers, or gowns, are prohibited. Footwear like open-toed slippers, flip-flops, or house shoes without proper soles is also not permitted. Costumes, such as superhero outfits or unrelated character attire, are not allowed, nor are excessive accessories like blankets or stuffed animals, or items that may disrupt the learning environment. All attire must align with the school dress code for modesty and appropriateness, and students should be able to fully participate in school activities while dressed for Pajama Day. Respectful participation is expected from everyone, and the administration will have the final say on the appropriateness of attire. Let’s make Polar Express Day a fun, magical, and memorable celebration for all!
